The New School style came into existence around the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s from tattooists like Marcus Pacheco. New School tattoo designs combine traditional and Japanese themes with a modern graffiti style. They allow for more dimensional shading with the use of one or more light sources. The lines of New School tattoos will often be calligraphied. The style allows for very bright colors and animated drawings.
