Oral Piercing Care (Lip, Labret & Tongue)
Dual-action cleaning routine for inside the mouth and outside skin around lip and tongue piercings.

Step-by-Step Care Routine
Inside the Mouth Care
Rinse your mouth with alcohol-free mouthwash for 30 seconds after every meal, snack, or drink other than plain water.
Outer Skin Care
For lip, monroe, and medusa piercings, clean the outside surface with sterile saline solution twice daily.
Managing Swelling in the First Week
Suck on ice chips or sip cold water frequently during the first 48–72 hours to keep swelling manageable, especially for tongue piercings, and stick to soft, cool foods until swelling subsides.
What TO Do
- Drink cold water and suck on ice to manage initial swelling.
- Replace your toothbrush with a fresh, soft-bristle toothbrush.
- Downsize long initial barbells after 2–3 weeks to protect your teeth and gums.
What NOT To Do
- Do NOT consume alcohol, spicy food, or excessively hot liquids for 7 days.
- Do NOT smoke, vape, or engage in oral contact for at least 2 weeks.
- Do NOT play with or click the jewelry against your teeth.
Recommended Care Products
Alcohol-free, fragrance-free mouthwash (Biotene/TheraBreath), sterile saline spray, soft-bristle toothbrush.
Warning Signs & Complications
If the labret disk or ball embeds completely under the inner mouth tissue, or if swelling restricts swallowing or breathing, seek emergency medical care immediately.
